But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:23-24)

The Worship Music Ministry of Desert Hills is passionate about creating an atmosphere where we can focus on who God is and what He is doing in our lives, a place where passion and joy can be expressed in freedom, and where we can help others to fulfill the intent for which we were all created…to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

We also believe that worship is not just something we do on Sunday mornings. As God’s people we are to live our lives as worshippers in whatever it is that we do. It is our hope that our time of corporate celebration in worship can inspire us to be fully devoted individual worshippers of God as we live our lives.

In our worship services, we have a variety of elements, such as music, prayer, reading and preaching the scriptures. With regard to music we draw from a variety of forms, all with the intent of helping us to worship God in spirit and truth.

Worship Team Participation

The worship team of Desert Hills consists of vocalists, band members, and our audio/visual team. If you have a heart for drawing others into the presence of God and have musical or A/V talent, then we would love to hear from you. Worship Team Rehearsals

Singers

Vocalist Training: Wednesdays from 6:00-8:30p.m.

The worship team vocalists and those interested in developing music skills join together for this rehearsal. The singers build vocal and music theory skills, learn the worship pieces for the week, and rehearse for special performances. Please note that an audition and interview is required for those wishing to join the worship team on Sunday mornings, except for special performances when planned. No audition, however, is necessary to join on Wednesdays.

Band

Band Rehearsal: Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30p.m.

Band members prepare Sunday’s music and special performances as occasions arise. Vocalists who desire extra practice are welcome to attend. Our typical band lineup includes acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitar, drumset, keyboard, and piano. We use additional instruments (ex. trumpet, harmonica, flute) when musicians with such skills are available. An audition and interview is required to join the band.

A/V

A/V volunteers participate in periodic training sessions. Also, when possible, A/V volunteers are present for Wednesday night band rehearsals.

All

Dress Rehearsal: Sundays from 8:00-9:00a.m.

Just prior to the Sunday school hour, the full worship team (i.e. vocalists, band members, and A/V volunteers) rehearses together.

Worship Team Expectations

We ask all who join the Worship Music Ministry to make a commitment to attend all rehearsals, knowing that unforeseen circumstances do arise. Of most importance we are looking for people who are seeking to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ and out of this desire to lead others into His presence.
