The world cannot ignore the judgment of God. Unbelievers don’t want to admit it will happen and some believers don’t want to think about it happening. But, God’s judgment has been forewarned by the King of all Creation. Against common wisdom of the day, Christians in Jerusalem heeded Jesus warning and left Jerusalem for the safety of Pella. They obeyed the Savior and for this obedience, they lived through the destruction and remained free from death and slavery of the Romans. Josephus describes the people as leaving the city “as swimmers deserting a sinking ship,” an image that accords well with Jesus’ command to leave everything behind. The horror that Jesus predicted for Jerusalem came with the fall of the temple and is a matter of historical fact. But, are we as faithful to listen to Jesus’ warning today? Do we have a faith of obedience? Do we warn others about the judgment of God still to come? Please listen to this morning’s sermon by Pastor Robb and learn what Jesus teaches us about escaping God’s judgment. If God will so judge Israel, He will also judge the world.
