The rich crowds made a public spectacle as they gave their offering in the temple. They would often carry huge bags of shekels and pour them into the offering trumpets. This offering often made a loud noise and even after this a public announcement would still be made telling how much the rich person gave. This public offering would often bring with it self-promotion and opportunity for the rich to produce delusions of grandeur. Then enters a poor widow who is noticed by Jesus Christ. Are His comments meant to edify the widow or judge the rich? To find out the answer to this question, please listen to this morning’s sermon by Pastor Robb. This passage is not what you may expect.
